1415 AD — Battle of Agincourt takes place. England now has the advantage in the Hundred Years’ War.

1419 AD — Hussite Wars begin after the death of Jan Hus. Hus was a Czech priest and philosopher and a pivotal figure of the Reformation. He was burned at the stake for heresy. 1453 AD — Constantinople falls to the Ottoman Turks.

1456 AD — Santa Maria Novella Basilica* is built in Florence, Italy. 1492 AD — Christopher Columbus reaches the New World.

1497 AD — Vasco de Gama completes the first voyage from Europe to India around the Cape of Good Hope in southern Africa.

1499 AD — Ryoanji Temple* is completed in Kyoto, Japan.
