The city of Miami, beautifully showcased on the hit TV series “CSI Miami,” is a watery paradise. However, there are few notable attractions in the city itself. The majority of the significant tourist locations are around the city. Take Miami Beach, for instance. Here visitors will find a treasure trove of Art Deco buildings.
Miami Beach also has one of my favorite attractions, the very moving Miami Holocaust Memorial.
Of course, South Beach, a magnet for the young and beautiful, is also a major draw in Miami Beach. Just north of Miami is Gulfstream Park, actually in the city of Hallandale. It attracts some of the best thoroughbreds in the US during the winter.
One of the few attractions in the city itself is Vizcaya, an Italianate mansion, the former estate of Industrial Agriculturist James Deering.
To the southeast of the city is Biscayne National Park, an aquatic national park, catering to divers and fishermen.
