City Parks Around the World — China

City parks are often focal points for residents and tourists. They offer a respite from the hectic daily activity of a city and a place for solitude and contemplation. They typically provide a tranquil and attractive environment, a place for meeting friends, playing a game, or reading a book. Frequently city parks offer other attractions as well. Many parks feature museums or zoos; others have walking paths or bike trails. Note that many of these locations are featured on my walking tours which are available for purchase on the website.

Beihai Park, Beijing, China — This large city park is located just west of the Forbidden City. It is a popular gathering place for both tourists and residents. The park contains several bodies of water, a Buddhist temple and a 9-Dragon Screen.

Seven Star Park, Guilin, China — This large park is a Mecca for families. There are many activities for children and yet there are a variety of pleasant places for adults to stop and ponder life or enjoy the tranquility.
