City parks are often focal points for residents and tourists. They offer a respite from the hectic daily activity of a city and a place for solitude and contemplation. They typically provide a tranquil and attractive environment, a place for meeting friends, playing a game, or reading a book. Frequently city parks offer other attractions as well. Many parks feature museums or zoos; others have walking paths or bike trails. Note that many of these locations are featured on my walking tours which are available for purchase on the website.
Retiro Park, Madrid, Spain — This large urban park is a popular gathering place for residents of the city as well as tourists. There are many activities that visitors can participate in, yet the park also offers quiet spots for contemplation.
Maria Luisa Park, Seville, Spain — This park was created for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. It showed off this delightful city and the culture and Art of Andalusia to the world.
These wonderful parks are included in my walking tours of Madrid and Seville. You can purchase a walking tour by clicking on the “Walking Tour Store” icon on this website. Each of the over 250 self-guided walking tours is only $1.49.
