Early spring is the time to visit the Callaway Gardens, in Pine Mountain, Georgia. The grounds here are extensive landscape gardens which feature the azalea, one of the most beautiful of the flowering shrubs of America. The gardens are huge and are accessed via automobile along the well-kept roads. The emphasis here seems to be on solitude and a communion with nature.
