The most famous gardens in Spain can be found at the Alhambra, the Moorish fortress/palace in the southern city of Granada. Because of the extreme heat in Spain during the summer, gardens here featured running water and quiet pools to offer a cooling refuge from the heat.
Beautifully landscaped plantings complement the scene in these gardens.
Other Moorish palaces in Southern Spain, known as alcazars, had similar gardens for the royals and their guests.
