Why Go to San Juan Puerto Rico?

Every tourist destination has its attractions. However, because every tourist is different, these attractions have greater or lesser value. In this series Gary’s gives his reasons for traveling to a particular place. Hopefully some of his thoughts will entice you to consider adding this particular place to your itinerary. San Juan Puerto Rico has an extremely walkable and pleasant Old Town. Cobblestone streets and colorful buildings abound in this Caribbean paradise. Include San Juan Puerto Rico in your Caribbean island itinerary for at least the following reasons:

1. El Morro is the local name for the premier fort in San Juan Puerto Rico. It guards the entrance to the harbor and was extremely important in the island’s history.

2. The Paseo de la Princesa is a pedestrian-only walkway which connects the main square of Old San Juan with one of the town’s most elaborate fountains.

3. Pastel-colored buildings line many of the streets of Old San Juan.
