Why Go to Suzhou?

Every tourist destination has it’s attractions. However, because every tourist is different, these attractions have greater or lesser value. In this series Gary’s gives his reasons for traveling to a particular place. Hopefully some of his thoughts will entice you to consider adding this particular place to your itinerary. Come to Suzhou to see numerous examples of traditional Chinese gardens. The town is less than an hour from Shanghai but is a world away in culture and ambience. Be sure to include Suzhou in any Chinese adventure for at least the following reaons:

1. Although the gardens are the main draw, Suzhou is a city of canals and pedestrian streets so is pleasant to stroll through.
