I expected pain. Cancer without pain is extremely unusual so I was convinced that it “goes with the territory.” However, the strange thing here is that there is no indication that this pain is due to my cancer. I cannot imagine where it came from. I don’t remember straining my back or twisting the wrong way. All of a sudden, out of the blue, I have this back pain. My reactions to the pain remind me of a noisy, professional tennis match where the combatants groan or grunt each time they hit a shot.
So this appears to be my life for at least the time being. Hopefully, on Monday we might discover the origin of the pain. If not, I may be stuck with a life of groans indefinitely. I makes me wonder what else life has in store for me over the next months and years.
