Texas is a huge state, and it is located far from other major league ball parks. Thus, I have treated the two (2) Texas major league franchises as a separate trip. The Texas Rangers, an American League club, can be found at Rangers Ballpark, in Arlington, a suburb of Dallas. This park opened in 1994 and is known as a hitter’s park.

      Less than 250 miles south (simply follow Interstate 45) of Arlington is Houston, Texas, home of the National League Astros. The park, known as Minute Maid Field has a retractable roof, to keep out the summertime heat. The stadium even has a replica of a Wild West steam train in left field!
