What a delightful day!!! We took the Tsawassen feirry to Swartz Bay, on Vancouver Island. The BC Ferry operation is extremely efficient. Our first stop was Butchart Gardens, one of the world’s premier gardens. Actually, Lee & I both agreed that these were the nicest gardens we have ever been to. They are situated within and around an old quarry. The flowers and landscaping are positively breathtaking! A myriad of colors, textures and shapes emerge after each turn on the path. Particularly enchanting sections include the Sunken Garden, the Ross Fountain, and the Rose Garden. It was a glorious way to spend several hours.
Next we drove into the lovely city of Victoria where we were enchanted with the architecture, the picturesque setting, the friendliness of the people, and the myriad shops and restaurants. One day is definitely not enough to appreciate the ambience or to see the many sights. We left, wanting to return for a longer period of time. Check out our pictures from this fantastic excursion.
