Every tourist destination has its attractions. However, because every tourist is different, these attractions have greater or lesser value. In this series Gary gives his reasons for traveling to a particular place. Hopefully some of his thoughts will entice you to consider adding this particular location to your itinerary. The entire series is being categorized under the heading, “Spotlights.” However, you may find more about these locations in the archives of this website, under headings such as, “Great Places,” “Things to Do in,” “Best of,” “Top 10” and “Places of a Lifetime.” In addition, “Walking Tours” of many of these destinations may be available for purchase on the website for the low price of $1.49 each.
The US Virgin Islands are a paradise in the northern Caribbean Sea. St Thomas, St Croix, and St John are the three (3) main islands which make up the chain, with St Thomas being the most popular, especially with cruise ships because of its duty-free shopping. The smaller island of St John is considerably less well-developed, and, thus, much of the island has been set aside as a national park. A Caribbean holiday would be incomplete without a visit to the US Virgin Islands, especially St John for the following reasons:
1. Trunk Bay offers an idyllic beach as well as tidal pools and shallow reefs to explore.
2. The gorgeous colors of the water and the contrasting white sand present a spectacular portrait to the visitor.
