A Washington DC Weekend

We escaped to our Nation’s capital, Washington, DC, one of my favorite cities, for a (too) short weekend. Arriving at about 2:30 PM on Friday and, with a threat of thunderstorms, we decided to do museums. We headed first to the National Air & Space Museum. Our guests had never been to Washington before so this seemed an appropriate place to start. We were amazed at the Spirit of St Louis,

and one of the planes which Amelia Earhart flew.

We loved the space stuff, including the many rocket ships,

Next we went to the National Museum of American History to immerse ourselves in Americana, such as Archie Bunker’s chair, the Ruby Slippers from The Wizard of Oz and an Edison incandescent light bulb.

We finished the day with a lovely dinner at Clyde’s, in Alexandria.
