Haleakala is a dormant volcano on the island of Maui. It once formed much of the island with its eruptions. Now it is a spectacular national park which attracts millions of visitors, both to see it and, for some, to bike down its slopes. Allow plenty of time to visit since the climb, by car, to the summit will take almost an hour.
At the top, the lunar-like landscape is extremely interesting with numerous craters within the main crater.
At the summit, you are often above the clouds since the mountain is so high.
There are trails which descend into the crater. Be sure to spend some time doing this. Also at the summit are Silver Sword Plants, which only grow here.
