Mesa Verde National Park preserves an area of southwestern Colorado where the Anasazi, a Native American people, built interesting apartment complexes known as cliff dwellings. The niches, hundreds of feet above the valley floor, which housed hundreds of villagers, contained places for the storage of food and water.
