Nebraska is another state with very few major attractions (tourist sites that are well-known and part of many itineraries). We basically drove through the state, on to bigger and better things. However, we did stop at and enjoyed Scott’s Bluff National Historic Site, in the northwestern part of the state.
Scott’s Bluff was a noticeable landmark for wagon trains headed for the Oregon Trail. Thus it became a significant stop along the route. Today it is preserved for this reason. The “bluff” overlooks a broad plain and the Platte River.
The road up to the historic site is dramatic.
