City parks are often focal points for residents and tourists. They offer a respite from the hectic daily activity of a city and a place for solitude and contemplation. They typically provide a tranquil and attractive environment, a place for meeting friends, playing a game, or reading a book. Frequently city parks offer other attractions as well. Many parks feature museums or zoos; others have walking paths or bike trails. Note that many of these locations are featured on my walking tours which are available for purchase on the website.
Centennial Park, Atlanta, Georgia, USA — This park was constructed for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. It played an integral part of the tragic bombing which occurred there in July. Today the park is a gathering place for young and old, resident and tourist.
Forsyth Park, Savannah, Georgia, USA — This lovely park with its glorious fountain is the piece de resistance of Savannah, the delighful, old city in northern Georgia.
