My Favorite Restaurants — Coffee Houses in RI

I love food! To me, food offers comfort and security. In addition, cuisine is a cultural expression and represents an opportunity to more thoroughly understand and appreciate a particular culture or region. When traveling I make it a point to taste local specialties as a way of enriching my travel experience. Someone recently suggested that I share my favorite restaurants with my readers because of my great interest in food. Keep in mind that food preferences are very different from person to person and also that a restaurant experience is about so much more than the food.

Sometimes it’s fun to stop at a cafe and converse over a cup of coffee and perhaps a scone or muffin. Lee and I do this quite frequently now that we are both retired. Here are our favorite coffee houses in RI:

1. Brewed Awakenings, 1395 Atwood Ave., Johnston, RI; 1577 Atwood Ave., Johnston, RI; 1200 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, RI; 60 South County Commons Way, Wakefield, RI

2. Felicia’s, 5757 Post Road, East Greenwich, RI (our absolute favorite)

3. Krazy Korner Bagel & Deli, 23 Circle Drive, Seekonk, MA (only place we know with Low Carb Bagels)

4. Wild Flour Vegan Bakery, 727 East Ave., Pawtucket (excellent vegan scones and slow-pour coffee).
