Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, is a hidden gem, just east of Vienna. It should be included on any itinerary to that part of Europe for at least the following reasons:
1. This charming city is typical in that it has the obligatory castle high above the Old Town.
2. The city’s main square is an enchanting space and a popular gathering place for locals and tourists alike.
3. The cobblestone streets of the Old Town are delightful to explore on foot.
4. Lovely palaces abound in the Old Town of Bratislava.
