Why Go to Eze?

Every tourist destination has its attractions. However, because every tourist is different, these attractions have greater or lesser value. In this series Gary’s gives his reasons for traveling to a particular place. Hopefully some of his thoughts will entice you to consider adding this particular place to your itinerary. The entire series is being categorized under the heading, “Spotlights.” You may find more about these locations in the archives of this website, under headings such as, “Great Places,” “Things to Do in,” “Best of,” “Top 10” and “Places of a Lifetime.” In addition, there may be “Walking Tours” of these places available for purchase on the website for the low price of $1.49 each.

Imagine an adorable village along the Corniche Highway on the French Riviera which seems to spill down a steep cliff to the sea below. You have pictured the enchanting town of Eze France. Bring good walking shoes here because the main street of Eze village climbs precipitously up the hillside. It is one of our favorite small towns in Europe. Be sure to include Eze in your Southern France itinerary for at least the following reasons:

1. The narrow main street is lined with shops and restaurants as visitors climb up the vertical village.

2. At the tip-top of the town is a lovely cactus garden, just perfect for a cactophile like me.

3. Eze is an unforgettable place for its uniqueness and its incredible views of the Mediterranean Sea.
