Patmos is one of the northernmost Greek islands. It is very close to the Turkish mainland and is a popular cruise ship port. The island is most often associated with St John the Theologian who is credited with writing about the Apocalypse, the end of the world according to Christians. Include a visit to Patmos when in Greece for at least the following reasons:
1. The Monastery of St John lies within a formidable fortress, high above the harbor.
2. The Monastery itself is a charming spot within the fortress with a lovely church and museum.
