Salamanca is the home of Spain’s oldest and most prestigious university. As such, the city is always exciting and exudes the energy and enthusiasm of youth. Make Salamanca an interesting addition to your Spanish itinerary for at least the following reasons:
1. The Plaza Mayor (Main Square) of Salamanca rivals any in Spain for its classical architecture and wonderful symmetry.
2. Interesting architecture abounds here, even on the side streets.
3. Salamanca’s Old-New Cathedral is a melding of the Romanesque (12th Century) with the Gothic (16th Century).
