Italy and Croatia 2014 — Day 3

On Saturday, we left Lucca and headed back to Milan for a four-night stay. Before we started driving, I took a few parting shots from our hotel, the Relais la Cappella.

The drive was approximately 3 hours, practically all autostrada (highway). Driving in Italy has become very expensive. The autostrada tolls have cost us over 75 Euros in just three (3) days. I wonder what the total bill will be!

Our hotel in Milan is the 4-star Hotel Berna. Our room is beautiful; the staff is welcoming and helpful; we are going to love it here. We settled in and did some house-keeping chores (washing clothes, collecting and organizing receipts, etc.) and then went for a lovely dinner (best of the trip so far) at Mamma Rosa. We had huge salads and then risotto which was to die for. A half-bottle of chianti was also necessary to aid digestion.

By the way, we found out that most restaurants in Milan do not open until 7 PM. Thankfully Mamma Rosa is an exception.
