Kansas City & West — Day 5 (Branson, MO)

After leaving Kansas City, we headed southeast to Branson, Missouri, the entertainment capital of the midwest. We are staying at a Wyndham Resort for two nights — great accomodations for only $95 per night. After checking in, we headed for Branson Landing and Main Street. We walked the entire length of the pedestrian walkway which winds between scores of shops and restaurants, despite the fact that the temperature was over 100 degrees.

Branson Landing

The Landing is extremely attractive and functional.

We also walked most of the boardwalk, a lovely path along the man-made lake. There is supposed to be a choreographed fountain display at Town Square, but we missed it today. Maybe we will be able to time our visit better tomorrow.

This evening we have tickets for a show — “Hooray for Hollywood.” We’ll find out whether all the hype about Branson has any credence….  Actually, the show was fantastic! Young, talented, energetic men and women treated us to a survey of movie music from the 40’s to today..
