My Personal Cancer Journey — An Encouraging Story

Someone told me today of a person who has the same kind of cancer that I have. She also qualified for the EGFR mutation and is currently taking Tarceva, my magic pill. She is 82 years old. A year ago she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer which had metastasized to the bone (sound familiar?). Doctors gave her six – ten  months to live.

One year later she is doing fine. Her tumors have shrunk to about half their original size. She feels great and has no symptoms except for the side effects of the Tarceva — a light blush on her face and dry skin on her fingers.

For me this is certainly encouraging news. Hopefully I will do as well as she has or better.
