I met a fellow cancer sufferer the other day. She is an inspiration to her family and friends. She is young, perhaps mid-forties, has two teenagers at home, and a husband without a full-time job (although he works several part-time jobs).
What a great attitude! She wears a toque to cover her bald head, but still goes to work each day, despite having chemo treatments every Friday (her employer is very flexible with her hours). She is upbeat and extremely optimistic about her situation — Stage 4 Breast Cancer — and gladly talks about her cancer and her situation. She has two more weeks of chemo, after which she plans to have a lumpectomy or a mastectomy.
It is always refreshing and uplifting to meet and speak with people like her. She makes me grit my teeth even more and vow to fight this disease to the very end.
