My Personal Cancer Journey — Pre-Treatment

So, before any treatment can begin, there must be tests and other procedures. From my diagnosis on January 9th to my first treatment on January 24th, I had many things to do.

1 — Needle Biopsy on 1-10 — to determine the type of cancer cells and to see if I am a candidate for the chemo pill

2 — Blood test on 1-17 — to establish a baseline prior to treatment; to check other organs for health

3 — B-12 Shot on 1-17 — Chemo treatments deplete the body of B-12 and B-6 so this shot was designed to replenish the body’s supply of this vital nutrient. I was also put on Folic Acid pills (B-6)

4 — Power Injection Port on 1-22 — to provide easy access to blood stream for chemo treatments and other tests

5 — Pet Scan on 1-23 — to see if the cancer has metastasized to other locations

6 — CT Scan on 1-23 — to check brain for cancer
