Spotlight on the Olympics — Summer 1932

Now that Boston (right down the road from us) was being considered, (albeit for a short time) for the 2024 Olympics, for the first time I might add, let’s take a look at the places where the Olympics have been held over the years.

1932 Summer Olympics — The games of the X Olympiad were held in Los Angeles, California. No other city bid for the games this year since this period of time was during the Great Depression, a worldwide phenomenon. This was the first Olympics to house athletes in an Olympic Village. Babe Didrikson, one of America’s greatest female athletes rose to prominence here. These Olympics began on July 30th and lasted until August 14th. The US won the most medals, 103, of which 41 were gold.
