Now that Boston (right down the road from us) was being considered, albeit for a short time, for the 2024 Olympics, for the first time I might add, let’s take a look at the places where the Olympics have been held over the years.
1988 Summer Olympics — These Olympics mark the second time that summer Olympics are held in Asia (Tokyo in 1964 was the first) and the fourth time that the Summer Olympics are held in autumn (September 17 to October 2). Daniela Silivas wins three (3) gold medals in gymnastics and equals Nadia Komenici’s record of seven (7) perfect 10 scores in the process. US Sprinter, Florence Griffith Joyner wins three (3) gold medals and then announces her retirement at the conclusion of the games. The Soviet Union wins the medal count again with 130 medals, 55 of which were gold.
