UNESCO World Heritage Sites — Austria

UNESCO, an arm of the United Nations, has established a list of the World Heritage Sites, the Earth’s most significant places, based on historical, cultural, and aesthetic considerations. These places should be preserved so that all mankind can appreciate their legacy, their significance, and their beauty. The country of Austria has, of this date, seven (7) locations which have earned this designation. The three (3) that I have visited are presented below.

Salzburg — The enchanting Old Town of Salzburg is a delightful place to wander and to reflect on Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who was born here, and onĀ The Sound of Music which was filmed hereĀ (Walking Tour available for $1.49 on website).

Vienna — Once the capital of the mighty Holy Roman Empire, the stately and elegant city of Vienna has much to offer the tourist. The city center is alive with pedestrians sampling the street food, checking out the sights, or simply shopping (Walking Tour available for $1.49 on website).
