This will be my final post regarding our trip to Vancouver and Alaska Cruisetour.
Several other wrap-up questions were asked, at the conclusion of our trip, and here are the results:
Favorite park: (available choices included Stanley Park in Vancouver, Thunderbird Park in Victoria, Whale Park in Ketchikan, Glacier National Park, and Denali National Park)
Everyone picked Denali as the best park of our trip
Favorite Building: (I am always conscious of architecture on my trips since I have seen so many exceptional man-made structures in my travels)
John & Barbara both chose the Fairmont Princess Hotel, in Victoria
Lee chose the Museum of the North, in Fairbanks
Gary preferred the Parliament building in Victoria
Best Activity or Event:
All four of us opted for Butchart Gardens
Best Walking Tour: (we tried to do walking tours wherever we were — most of them were Gary’s walks, published previously on this website)
John & Lee liked the walking tour of Juneau
Gary & Barbara preferred the walking tour of Victoria
By way of a summary, I should say at this point that our trip was fabulous, from beginning to end. Princess does an admirable job with cruises to Alaska, evidenced by their corporate investment in the area — five hotels, railcars, etc. The only down side was spending the last three (3) nights in three different hotels — we could easily have done without Talkeetna, basically a wasted stop.
