Mammoth Cave professes to be the longest cave system in the world, with over 400 miles of passageways. Located in western Kentucky, the national park offers a variety of above-ground activities as well as excursions into the depths. Add Mammoth Cave National Park to your Kentucky itinerary for at least the following reasons:
1. Cave formations such as “draperies” are common along the cave trails.
2. Other formations like stalagmites and stalactites can also be seen within the cave system.
